As autumn beckons save time by raking leaves into small piles on top of a tarpaulin or a piece of plastic sheeting. Then drag that to your main pile for collection or into compost. Raking leaves into one single big pile takes more time, and when it's done, you still have to move that big pile off your lawn to another location
